ART OF SMILE

What do children with cleft lip and palate, and art have in common? You can give one a home and the other a smile. Art is inspiring, expressive, and beautiful. So are smiles. But for some children, a beautiful smile can seem just impossible.

CLEFT LIP/PALETE

1 in 700 babies are born with a cleft lip and/or palate globally. Clefts can cause many complications, such as difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Reconstructive surgery for clefts has evolved over more than half a century, and today’s techniques and procedures have come a long way. The surgery today is simple and the transformation is immediate. Patients see their smile for the first time, parents cry tears of joy, and lives and communities are changed forever.

Art of Smile

Cleft lip and palate treatment is a life-changing event, but for many families in need it is as elusive as abstract art. We, at Roland Park Orthodontics, believe strongly that everyone deserves a beautiful smile, however we also understand that for many it is simply not possible, at least not without some help. This is how we give back to our community. Dr. Sanchez has created a philanthropic outreach dear to her heart – “Art of Smile”, which donates the proceeds of her art to a fund supporting children afflicted with this condition.

We have come to realize two things: ONE, there is a huge need for these children to get help, and TWO, there is a huge group of people in our community who want to help. Voila, “Art of Smile” was created.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

You can adopt a unique handcrafted piece of art by Dr. Sanchez and bring it to your home, office, or give as a gift. We display the art in our practice, where it is pampered and adored before you take it home. Roland Park Orthodontics donates the proceeds of the sale of the art to help children with cleft lip and palate.

Many families have enough on their plate without having to worry about how to pay for their child’s surgery. Please come by our office to see how you can help give art a home and a child a smile.
