MEET
DR. SANCHEZ

Dr. Dina Sanchez is a Board Certified Orthodontist, mom, published author, wife, University of Maryland clinical professor, abstract artist, tooth fairy, and accidental lacrosse superfan. Proud owner of “Twinky’ – Baltimore’s jolliest car.

MY STORY

Dr. Sanchez has a tiny version of a life outside of orthodontics. Family is her true life and her happiness. She lives in Baltimore County with her sweetheart husband and children. When she is not working on creating beautiful smiles and teaching awesome dental students and orthodontic residents at the University of Maryland, you can find her on the pitch cheering for her children’s lacrosse and soccer teams.

Since childhood she has had an affinity for all things creative. Dr. Sanchez is an “optimistic” (self-taught) abstract artist and has a modern and minimalist style of painting that cannot be defined, but rather felt. She has created her art style through her love for composition, color and the philosophy that through life’s imperfections, there is always a need for beauty, particularly in chaos. She escapes it all by retreating to her petit art studio, which stocks oodles of stretched canvas and perfectly-lined-up-color-coordinated-paint… just in case she feels optimistic.

PHILANTHROPIC LIFE

“Being an orthodontist constantly has a positive impact on peoples’ lives.”

Orthodontic treatment can be a life-changing event, but for many families who have children born with cleft lip and palate, it is as elusive as abstract art. Dr. Sanchez believes strongly that everyone deserves a beautiful smile, however, she understands that for many it is simply not possible, at least not without some help. Dr. Sanchez has created a philanthropic mission dear to her heart – “Art of Smile”, which donates the proceeds of her art to organizations supporting families in need of access to care.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE

  • University of California Irvine: B.A. in Women’s Studies
  • Albert-Ludwigs University Freiburg: Doctor in Dental Surgery
  • NYU, Dept. of Biomaterials and Biomimetics: Doctoral Dissertation
  • NYU: Specialist for Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
  • Certification: American Board of Orthodontics (ABO)

Her career as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Maryland, Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry has given her the opportunity to teach the next generation of dentists and orthodontists, conduct research, publish and function as a thesis mentor to orthodontic residents in their pursuit of a Masters of Science degree. Her experience as an orthodontist and educator in a pediatric dental setting at the University of Maryland has shaped her style of treatment for all patients in a kind, caring, and compassionate way. As a mom, she is cool enough to talk to her patients about Fortnight, Clash of Clans and how to deter unwanted boyfriends with a headgear, but nerdy enough to talk about the nitty-gritty of braces and straightening teeth.

Dr. Sanchez is committed to excellence in education and technology in the profession, thus teaching continuing education courses for local and international dentists on modern advancements in orthodontics and interdisciplinary topics. Dr. Sanchez is a published author, including the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJODO) and provides peer review contributions for numerous journals in her profession.

She serves the American Association of Orthodontists as a Council Member for Scientific Affairs (COSA). Apart of being an active member for the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), she is also a member of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontics (MASO), the Maryland State Society of Orthodontics (MSSO) and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA).

  • Super friendly staff. Dr. Sanchez is great - professional, kind, and will work with you and your specific needs for treatment. I am an adult back in braces again, and they patiently helped me make the decision on what kind of treatment would work best for me. I recommend them 100% for orthodontic care!

  • I had a wonderful experience with Roland Park Orthodontics. After many poor experiences with male doctors I was specifically seeking a female-led team and that's what I found at Roland Park. Dr. Sanchez and her team do a great job of making adult patients feel welcomed and even remember things about your life to ask about— above and beyond. Everyone who works here is kind and seems happy to be doing their work, a true rarity in the medical field I've observed. I also appreciated that Dr. Sanchez always explained procedures as they were going to happen and answered any questions I had. Dr. Sanchez is also a college professor so she is often training staff members while conducting appointments but everyone is extremely respectful and professional even as they are learning. I never had to wait for appointments and the space is beautiful, modern and well-lit. I think I've basically convinced my husband to do his teeth next!

  • Super friendly and courteous. They remembered my daughter right away and took the time to ask about her summer. She is always excited to come as well. All around 5 star experience.

  • My daughter and I are very pleased with Roland Park Orthodontics. Everyone is so incredibly friendly, from the moment you walk in the door. They even had a placard with my daughter’s name welcoming her to her first appointment. The doctor is very knowledgeable, thorough, and takes her time explaining everything. I highly recommend this practice!

  • Extremely welcoming. Great experience!
Consultation was on large screen so both child and parents could see the teeth and the plan to fix them. Plan of care was well thought out and explained clearly.
Office was very clean and bright! Staff were wonderful!

  • I was nervous about getting braces as an adult, but my experience with Dr Sanchez has been nothing but amazing! During our initial consultation she seemed to genuinely care about my goals of treatment, and worked with me to find the best option. She has a beautiful office, and her staff have all been so warm and welcoming (Lauren is a pleasure to work with and has followed up with me several times while I begin treatment). This has been a great experience so far, and I’m very grateful to Dr Sanchez and her staff!

  • My daughters and I shopped around for an orthodontic practice - twin girls getting full braces, I’m getting Invisalign. We all loved Dr Sanchez from the get go. The office is an incredibly welcoming space, the staff warm and friendly. I thought the braces process would be difficult but Roland Park Orthodontics is making it seem almost fun and not at all daunting. We are really thrilled to be patients and look forward to having amazing smiles!
